Combo Welder & Fitter ($150 per diem daily)

Location: Hollywood, South Carolina

Employment Type: Contract to hire

Compensation: $25–$26/hour + $150 daily per diem

Schedule: All shifts available; 10–15 hours of overtime weekly

Shift Options:

  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Thursday (OT available Friday/Saturday)
  • Night Shift: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM, Monday–Thursday (OT available Friday/Saturday)
  • Weekend Shifts Available

Position Summary:

We are actively seeking skilled and motivated Combo Welders & Fitters to support the fabrication of high-precision steel components for NAVSEA-related projects. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in both flux core and pulse welding techniques, strong fitting skills, and the ability to interpret detailed structural blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform flux core and pulse welding on large steel structures
  • Fit and align structural components to blueprint specifications
  • Interpret welding symbols and construction schematics with accuracy
  • Inspect welds for structural integrity and compliance with NAVSEA standards
  • Utilize a variety of measuring tools including tape measures, framing squares, and more
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3–5+ years experience in structural welding and fitting
  • Proficiency in both flux core and pulse welding techniques (required)
  • Strong blueprint and welding symbol interpretation skills
  • Ability to convert fractions to decimals accurately down to 1/16" and 1/32"
  • Prior experience working in shipyards or on NAVSEA defense-related projects
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA standards and welding codes is strongly preferred

Assessment & Testing Requirements:

Candidates must successfully complete the following evaluations:

  • 3G Flux Core Weld Test
  • 3G Pulse Weld Test
  • Blueprint Reading Assessment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
