Job Title: Inventory Control/Material Handler

Job Description

The Inventory Control/Material Handler is responsible for picking production shop order parts from inventory and placing jobs in designated work cells with precision and care. This role works closely with the Shop Floor Coordinator to expedite and follow hot customer orders through the shop. The position involves supporting cycle counts, maintaining inventory accuracy, and handling incoming and outgoing inventory. Additional responsibilities include packing products, shrink wrapping pallets, and supporting workflow as needed. Cross-training is provided to support various functions when personnel are unavailable. Adherence to Quality Policy and Procedures, OSHA guidelines, and workplace safety regulations is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Pick production shop order parts from inventory and place jobs in work cells.
  • Ensure correct parts are picked and orders are clearly marked.
  • Collaborate with Shop Floor Coordinator to expedite and follow hot customer orders.
  • Support cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and handle received inventory.
  • Assist shipping clerk with packing products and shrink wrapping pallets.
  • Cross-train in various functions to provide support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Operations Manager.
  • Work in assembly following detailed instructions when other duties are completed.
  • Follow Quality Policy and Procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Respond to changes productively and handle other duties as required.
  • Work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Overtime as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in warehouse using ERP systems
  • Minimum 2 years of inventory control/cycle count experience
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-year experience with manufacturing processes including inventory, stocking, and part picking
  • Proficiency in operating power equipment (stand-up forklift, sit-down forklift)

Work Environment

This position offers an air-conditioned work environment within a small company of about 25 employees. You will be one of three in the department, allowing you to take on varied roles. The first shift runs from 7am to 5:30pm Monday through Thursday, with additional hours on Friday and Saturday as needed. This role is physically demanding, requiring frequent standing, walking, and lifting of boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
