Inviting applications for the role of Consultant, Linux Admin
We are looking for a Linux administrator who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the infrastructure; also, to collaborate with other team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes. You will become an integral part of the team, making every problem of the platform a problem of your own, and solving them accordingly.
Responsibilities
- Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service.
- Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
- Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments.
- Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions.
- Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware.
- Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks.
- Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.
- Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications / Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or similar relevant degree
- Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC)
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
- Previous working experience as a Linux Administrator for 4-6 year(s)
- IN depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu etc.
- Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts
- Expert in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting
- Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
- Strong problem solving and communication skills.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as Bind, Apache, MySQL, nginx, etc.
- Ability to build and monitor services on production servers.
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS & Azure is desired!
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies will be added advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work on project teams, with stakeholders, and across departments.
- Capable of working with minimal guidance / oversight
- Being an agent for change, and assisting with developing organizational processes
- Understanding of email transport including SMTP, mail transfer agents, and mail security
- Container technologies such as Docker, OpenShift, and Kubernetes is desired.
- Familiarity with RDBM systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL
- Authentication and authorization technologies including LDAP, SAML, and Kerberos
- Provisioning, management, and orchestration with automation tools such as Puppet
- Web technologies and services including LAMP, Java technologies such as JBoss and Tomcat, and load balancers.
