Job Details:

Purpose

Assist kitchen staff around and during elementary school lunch periods.

Responsibilities

  • Put away all dishes from the dish pit
  • Start washing dishes from morning and lunch production
  • Finish washing all dishes from lunch service
  • Close down the dish pit machines, sinks, and counters
  • Put away clean and dry dishes from today
  • Help maintain the Back of House Cleanliness and organization
  • When a chef is out for the day this position may be asked to stay late or come in early to help with service, clean up kitchen, and setting up for next day.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience following basic work instructions.
  • Experience preparing and assisting in the preparation of food.
  • Experience preparing food and providing service in a food service facility.
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Must be willing to get the Food Handler's Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in a food service establishment.
  • Have and maintain a current Serv Safe Certificate or a current Travis County Food Handlers Card.
  • Demonstrate leadership and team work.
  • Demonstrate ability to receive, respond, and follow through with written and oral UTES Food policies, procedures and work related instructions from supervisors, customers, and co-workers.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
  • Professional demeanor.

Salary Range

$15.00/hr

Working Conditions

  • Elementary school kitchen and cafeteria

Work Shift

  • M-Th 10:30am-2:30pm = 4 hours = 16 hours a week

OR

  • M-Fr 11:30am to 2:30pm = 3 hours = 16 hours per week

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
