Detailed Job Description:
Assists Manager with the overall operation of the HVAC systems and provides technical expertise and support for HVAC and PM systems. Provides support for maintenance, renovation and repair of building HVAC systems for activities scheduled or arising across campus, including advanced troubleshooting, scheduling, project support, process improvement, safety recommendations, University Engineer (UEO), Ohio State Energy Partners (OSEP) and Maintenance Engineering support. Works with Ohio Department of Industrial Compliance (ODIC) to ensure permits are obtained when necessary. Works with other FOD departments to plan preventive (PM) and corrective (CM) maintenance schedules, identifies PM improvements and frequencies, instructs staff, and participates in evaluating building systems for correct operation, re-design, and replacement as needed. Completes Facilities Design and Construction (FDC) project design review to ensure compliance with The Ohio States University Building Design Standards (BDS) and ensures work completed by any of the HVAC Systems Shops meet BDS and code compliance. Coordinates and directs contractors and university personnel in coordination with Central shops, Zones, and University leadership. Oversees quality control functions for handing over projects once work is completed. Provides support as required for management of shop staff and provides direct supervision of front-line staff in absence of front-line supervisors. Provides support to Assistant Director with the overall operation of HVAC Systems Shop and serves in Assistant Director capacity in the absence of the Assistant Director. Identifies training needs and develops training programs to support the development of OPSHVAC staff and zone staff. Provides feedback to Manager(s) for inclusion in performance reviews, corrective action, and absence coordination. Monitors the purchase of materials, supplies, tools, etc. Responsible for customer service and other facilities management support functions. Adheres to all safety practices and procedures; attends meetings; assures properly completed documentation; provides a high level of customer service; communicates to customers, coworkers and supervision via written, electronic, and verbal methods and devices; performs other duties as assigned. This position works Monday - Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, but is subject to changes in shift, hours, days, and/or location as operations dictate; will be subject to an on-call rotation; subject to 24-hour emergency call. In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17, this position has been designated as essential short-term status and alternate long-term status. Will require the successful completion of a criminal background check.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4 years of relevant experience required.
Desired Qualifications:
4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. Minimum four years of experience in lead facilities role, ten years strongly desired, or bachelor’s degree in facilities management or other relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to perform computer functions such as data entry, data retrieval, electronic communication, internet searches, navigate and retrieve information from websites; ability to create basic reports using Microsoft Word; ability to format, analyze, sort and filter data using spreadsheet software; ability to manage small projects with defined scope and timeline; ability to contribute to and manage fiscal budgets; may require valid Ohio drivers' license and evidence of satisfactory driving record. Desired: Journeyman's certification in HVAC, Electronic and/or mechanical trade, knowledge of relevant code requirements.
The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $70,100 - $91,600
