Introduction to the team

Private Label Solutions (PLS) is the B2B powerhouse within Expedia Group, delivering cutting-edge travel technology and distribution solutions to a diverse global partner network. Our partners span financial institutions, corporate travel managers, offline travel agencies, and global travel suppliers—including major airlines.

The TAAP team is on a mission to empower travel advisors with world-class tools that enhance the end-to-end travel booking experience. We build scalable, high-performance systems for lodging shopping, checkout, and trip management—all on top of Expedia’s robust platform.

In this role you will:

As a Software Development Engineer II, you’ll be a key contributor in a fast-paced, agile team environment. You’ll design, build, and maintain scalable services and intuitive user experiences that power the TAAP platform. You’ll also mentor junior engineers, advocate for engineering best practices, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver impactful solutions.

  • Design, develop, and own features across the shopping, booking, and trip management lifecycle—including checkout, post-booking workflows, and reporting.
  • Build and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs consumed across the business unit.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to integrate Expedia Group services into TAAP.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code using object-oriented and functional programming principles.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines, and promote observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Identify and solve complex technical and business problems at the project level.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience, ideally in a product-focused environment.
  • Proficient in Kotlin or Java, with a solid understanding of backend service development.
  • Experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, SQS) and SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Skilled in frontend technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, HTML5, and CSS.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong debugging and monitoring skills; comfortable working with tools like Datadog and Splunk.
  • Able to design systems that are testable, observable, and scalable.
  • An effective communicator who can articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passionate about continuous learning and mentoring others.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
