Senior Process Control Engineer – Berkeley, CA

PURPOSE

The Senior PCS Engineer is responsible for planning, execution, coordination and monitoring of activities in support of Process Control Systems (PCS) across the Berkeley site. You will Interact with subordinates, peers and managers. Developing a network of external contacts appropriate to the job. You will also set levels of technical performance for others to emulate.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute PCS projects and activities to support Berkeley Supply Center goals for Engineering TSOs, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Sciences, Process Engineering, Central Utilities, and other support groups;
  • Respond to PCS issues in support of plant operations as required;
  • Perform PCS problem report investigations, troubleshooting, and break-fix modifications, including actions from Discrepancies and CAPAs as system owner;
  • Develop formal scopes of work for PCS programming activities as requested by Operations and Plant Engineering personnel;
  • Coordinate and manage implementation of PCS programming scopes of work, including change management, software development, commissioning testing, and validation testing;
  • Support PCS integration to as needed at site;
  • Develop standard control functions (continuous, sequential, batch) and commissioning/validation test protocols for reusable implementation on PCS systems;
  • Perform technical system owner (TSO) functions, including user access management, periodic reviews;
  • Provide PCS system and application training to Operations and Plant Engineering personnel as required by PCS TSOs. PCS systems include DCS, SCADA, REES, and PLC-based systems.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree from an accredited college or university in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field;
  • Several years of experience in industrial automation, including implementation, troubleshooting, and system support or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Expertise in designing, commissioning and supporting PCS systems;
  • Experience implementing and maintaining PCS systems in a cGMP environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex equipment / systems;
  • Excellent project management skills;
  • Knowledge in change control;
  • Good technical/business communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Capable of interdisciplinary work and coordination with groups such as Quality Assurance, MSAT, Maintenance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS 6+ years or MS 0-4+ years or PhD 0-2 years.
  • Minimum6 years experience in industrial automation, including implementation, troubleshooting, and system support or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $99,059.00 to $148,588.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..

This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
