What will you contribute?
As an important member of the Architecture & Strategy team, this position is responsible for delivering and maintaining our network architecture and strategy across Finastra locations including data centres and the cloud providers of Azure, AWS, and GCP, supporting internal and external customer's operational needs. For this role one set of internal customers are our Product Management and Professional services divisions; and their solutions that we will be supporting are cloud managed services delivering solutions in the lending, trade, banking, payments, and treasury sectors. The other set of internal customers are the Finastra internal teams that deliver corporate services. The Network Strategy and Architecture supports consistent deployments across Finastra data centres, Azure, AWS, and GCP that align with Finastra standards for security, availability, management, governance, deployment, configuration management, monitoring, identity and access management, service management and cost management.
The successful candidate will use their skills to architect, design, build, and integrate solutions spanning moderately complex technical and business capability domains with cost and strategic implications. Solutions may consist of proven or unproven technologies or multiple implementation technologies at once within domains that experience rapid change.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Your deliverables as Expert Network Architect will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Planning, designing, and engineering of networks and security, including services and hardware, across Finastra datacenters, Azure, AWS and GCP and across the areas of IDS/IPS, VPN, firewall rules analysis, Network Access Control, Next Gen Firewalls, Proxy, Monitoring, IPAM, security policy management, client connectivity, and SDWAN
- Working closely with other Architects, Developers, Product and Program Managers; and may provide support to more senior staff to ensure the designs align with the technological and business directions of the enterprise
- Formation, ownership and maintenance of the Network Strategy and Architecture that aligns with Finastra standards for security, availability, management, governance, deployment, configuration management, monitoring, identity and access management, service management and cost management across Finastra datacenters, Azure, AWS and GCP
- IT deployments may involve Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
- Ensuring the solutions developed comply with relevant regulations, internal architectural standards, and internal security and data assessments
- Maintaining the deployment architectures and designs for the Finastra solutions deployed as cloud managed services, including creating and delivering against the architecture roadmap for the solutions
- Supporting cost modelling for solution architectures developed and maintaining cost models in-line with changes to the deployment architectures across Finastra datacenters, Azure AWS and GCP
- Validating proposals are aligned with the defined solution architecture including the service level agreements, sizing criteria and cost modelling
- Supporting Sales and Marketing with collateral that explains, evangelizes and supports the solution architecture definition, including maintaining the RFP responses
- Reporting and support for defining and refining Project Managers’ delivery plans
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years of practical experience in the field of IT is required
- 5+ years of experience in a Network Architecture role including at least one public cloud
- Working within a culture of focus, organizing your work through sprint planning and reviews throughout a project life cycle
- Participating in all standard Scrum/agile cadence practices including Daily Stand Up, Sprint Planning, Release Planning, Sprint Retrospective, and Backlog refinement activities.
- Experience with cloud service deployments spanning multiple years in highly complex environments
- Expert ability in building analytics and reporting related to cloud management
- Expert understanding of cloud computing architecture, technical design and implementations, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery models.
- Excellent customer service and communication (oral / written) skills required.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills and ability to think “out of the box” required.
- Must be able to work independently or with a team, under minimum supervision.
- Moderate understanding of scripting languages
- Demonstrates problem solving skills through engineering solutions.
- Ideally holding relevant vendor and/or cloud provider certifications
