Position Description:

Crafts and develops software systems and solutions using Java, Angular.js, and Python. Develops full stack applications using Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) cloud-platforms (EC2, Lambda, CloudFormation, S3, IAM Roles, KMS, EKS, CloudWatch, and Elastic Search), AWS messaging capabilities (SQS and SNS), and AWS NoSql databases (DynamoDB). Develops sophisticated Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines including software configuration management, test automation, version control, and static code analysis using Git, Bitbucket/Stash, Jenkins, Stash, Ansible, and Docker. Develops software applications using Java, Spring Boot, and other relevant frameworks in a DevOps environment. Provides business solutions by developing complex software applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
  • Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.
  • Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
  • Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
  • Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
  • Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
  • Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing full-stack software development using Java or Python in a financial or technology services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing full-stack software development using Java or Python in a financial or technology services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing enterprise Web-based applications and interfaces using client-side tools (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript); consuming REST API and SOAP Integrations using Java or Python; and generating and processing JSON and XML payloads and sending responses.
  • DE implementing all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to deliver enterprise-wide solutions in an Agile environment; and collaborating with product owners to build an itemized backlog using JIRA or TFS.
  • DE identifying timely resolutions for critical incidents, implementing recovery actions, and carrying out root-cause analysis within a Production environment using System Display and Search Facility (SDSF), Report Management and Distribution System (RMDS), or Datadog; and analyzing available log files to develop logical conclusions and recommend alternative configurations using Endevor.
  • DE performing software development and maintenance of critical applications in a Mainframe environment using COBOL and DB2; writing business logic and calculations using COBOL in IMS DB/DC environment; and writing Structured Query Language (SQL) queries using Joins and performance tuning in a relational database environment—DB2.
