Professor Elizabeth Cauffman and the Development, Disorder, and Delinquency Laboratory at the University of California, Irvine are currently accepting applications for a Project Coordinator. The person selected for this position will primarily focus on the Young Adult Court (YAC) study of Orange County, which is a randomized controlled trial of a specialized court designed for Transitional-Aged-Youth (18 to 25 years old) in Orange County (https://www.occourts.org/directory/collaborative-courts/YoungAdultCourtSummary.pdf). Dr. Cauffman and her research team are evaluating whether young men processed through the YAC have better long-term outcomes (reduced recidivism; positive mental and physical health; positive socioeconomic) than young men who are processed through the traditional courts.
The person selected for this position will also be involved with the Road to Reentry Study, which is a randomized controlled trial examining whether developmentally-appropriate programming in a jail setting can reduce recidivism and promote positive outcomes among young adults incarcerated in an Orange County jail.
The Project Coordinator will be expected to work on site (UC Irvine’s main campus) and support the projects in a variety of ways, which may include:
- collaborating with PhD students and Lab Directors to interview, recruit, onboard, and train new research assistants
- supervising the research assistants
- helping to supervise and delegate tasks to the Lab Manager
- assigning caseloads to research assistants
- assisting with tracking participants and scheduling interviews
- tracking/logging completed interviews each week and ensuring data integrity
- liaising with court, probation, and jail personnel when necessary
- attending court hearings and coordinating court activities (e.g., tech set up, managing RA activities and ensuring confidentiality)
- assisting the YAC team with graduation ceremonies and other event planning/coordination
- coordinating data collection inside jail facilities
- supporting the Finance & Administrative Manager with budget and finance accountability and purchasing of lab supplies
- assisting with Institutional Review Board protocols
- helping to prepare progress reports for funding agencies
- assisting with other day-to-day operations related to the research studies

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Psychology, Criminology or related discipline)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team setting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with various deadlines
- Commitment to research integrity, ethics, and confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to use a computer and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint, and Zoom
