Description
The Associate Technical Writer updates existing technical documentation and information about Tyler software products, services, and policies and procedures. The Associate Technical Writer is responsible for producing accurate content (typically assigned directly by the Manager or through more/senior experienced staff). The Associate Technical Writer must ensure delivery of content meets the established guidelines and is completed on-time and meets all standards of Tyler quality.
Responsibilities
- Updates existing content that can be repurposed for use as product information, online help, training materials, e-learning components, support content, proposals, policies/procedures, and other knowledge assets.
- Works closely with the manager to plan and schedule projects and with other department staff to ensure consistent and accurate information.
- Produces content that conforms to established guidelines and best practices.
- Proofreads and copyedits content for proper use of grammar, punctuation, and style guidelines.
- Tests content for accuracy and usability.
- Assists in improving and documenting departmental processes and style guide.
- Maintains a knowledge base of accurate and approved content.
- May participate in sprint planning and/or demo sessions with Software Engineering team.
- May attend User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions.
- Updates intranet resources as assigned by the Manager.
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in English, Technical Writing, Communication, Journalism, or related field.
- Entry level or up to two years experience in the field or in a related area.
- Experience or education in information systems, business processes, and/or software development preferred, or two years Tyler software experience.
- Basic familiarity and understanding of Agile development.
- Strong written and verbal English language skills (grammar, syntax, usage, and style issues).
- Ability to write content clearly and accurately.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office and Adobe Technical Communication Suite or equivalent products required.
- Experience with other advanced word processing, e-learning, graphic production, online help authoring tools, and web applications preferred.
