The primary purpose of the Mental Health Support Specialist is to participate as a member of the mental health team providing care to assigned veteran and non-veteran students under the direct supervision of the Assistant Vice President Student Affairs.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field.
Experience: Minimum of two years of counseling experience. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with young adults in an educational or training capacity. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Licenses: LPC or LCSW
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrates understanding of the community college mission and practices an open-door policy. Has basic proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite. Must have a positive attitude and clear communication style (written and verbal). Has basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, and experience working with a college data platform. Possesses a creative and innovative approach to problem solving. Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and work independently with limited supervision. Ability to recognize barriers to student success and navigate through them. Ability to coordinate events. Exhibits strong skills in:
