Bachelor's degree in Engineering and five years of engineering experience are required. A State of Florida Professional Engineer license or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology awarded or having been enrolled prior to July 1, 1979 and proof of having passed the fundamentals test for the State of Florida Professional Engineer license may substitute for the required education.
This position will be assigned to the Engineering and Technical Services Division and will be responsible for the planning, designing, construction, maintenance, and operations of Solid Waste Management facilities.
This position will be tasked with overseeing engineering firms and consulting on complex solid waste projects, design, permitting, bidding and construction management for facilities such as landfills, transfer stations, recycling centers, home chemical sites, vehicle wash facilities, administrative buildings, and other related infrastructure.
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for overseeing engineering functions, such as reviewing proposals plans, specifications, calculations, reports, cost estimates, applications, invoices, and other documents through various project phases to ensure alignment with scope, budget, regulations, and county requirements. In addition, this position entails overseeing permitting and bidding processes, providing construction project support, and supervising staff members.
