Primary Purpose:
Provides leadership to enhance student achievement in secondary language arts by supporting teachers, developing and implementing effective curricula, facilitating professional development, analyzing student performance data, and promoting collaboration among educators to ensure high-quality, equitable secondary language arts instruction across secondary grades, while ensuring that the secondary language arts programming is aligned with district goals and centered on student success.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s degree in education or subject-related field
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification or such other credentials as may be required by the State Board of Education for Educator Certification for this position
- Valid Texas certificate in Supervision Administration and/or Mid-Management Administrator preferred or such other credentials as may be required by the State Board for Educator Certification for this position.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of curriculum design, instruction, assessments, TEKS and state assessments
- Comprehensive knowledge of secondary language arts curriculum and standards
- Ability to guide and support teachers in implementing instructional strategies, best practices, and innovative teaching methods
- Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing data to inform instruction, identify areas for improvement, and drive curriculum decisions.
- Ability to integrate 21st-century skills and technology into student learning experiences
- Experience in developing and facilitating professional development for adult learners
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively to support district initiatives
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience in secondary language arts, preferred
- Three years campus and/or district level leadership experience
- Three years instructional coaching or similar experience, preferred
- Experience in curriculum writing and TEKS based assessments
- Experience developing and implementing professional development
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works collaboratively with the Executive Director of Multilingual Programs and Academics and Director of Elementary Language Arts to facilitate the vision for secondary language arts curriculum with the development and implementation
- Provide leadership and support district-wide for 6-12 instructional, curricular, and professional development initiatives with a student outcome focus.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive secondary language arts curriculum that aligns with state standards and district goals.
- Works cooperatively with directors, specialist/coaches, and campus principals in supervising instructional programs and alignment to the standards
- Oversees testing programs and makes recommendations for improvement where appropriate
- Attends secondary language arts training and cadres to lead efforts at the district level
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies
- Coordinates the ordering and use of departmental materials and resources
- Conduct campus and district staff development that is aligned with CFBISD curriculum resources and supports the Districts Strategic Plan, District Improvement Plan, and Campus Improvement Plans
- Observes classroom instruction, demonstrates teaching strategies with students, and provides feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee district events to promote the attainment of district goals and implementation of district initiatives
- Analyzes and uses data to identify needs and to evaluate, improve, and report on program effectiveness
- Assist in the selection of subject specific resources that are aligned with the CFBISD curriculum, support the District and Campus Improvement Plans, and are designed to maximize student growth.
- Recommend adoption and use of varied instructional materials such as textbooks, reference works, instructional kits, trade books, audio-visual aids and instructional computer programs.

work prolonged or irregular hours. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions. District-wide and statewide travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
