Job Summary/Description:

WCTV is recruiting a driven, competitive, and digitally savvy newsroom leader to help us engage and expand our online audience. As the dominant station in the Tallahassee-Thomasville DMA, we lead the market across all platforms. Our website averages more than 3 million pageviews a month, and our social media pages reach hundreds of thousands of users. Whether it's breaking news, weather, politics, or college sports-our loyal viewers expect us to be the first outlet they hear from, and their habits are changing. The Digital EP will lead the charge on content, tracking engagement/consumption, and building up ''WCTV Now,'' which is a digital news desk that we use to stream live content to services like Roku and Fire TV. In the first year using the digital desk, we hit 10 M+ views.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing a 3-person digital team, plus digital interns
  • Generating content ideas for WCTV.tv, our social pages, and our streaming desk
  • Collaborating with news, weather, and sports on planning and executing deadline-driven content for our digital audience
  • Writing and editing daily content, and approving drafts from others in the newsroom
  • Training new hires on writing and posting across our platforms
  • Collaborating with other newsroom managers on editorial decisions and coverage plans for big events
  • Coordinating with reporters in the field or Gray affiliates in other markets as needed
  • Monitoring and regularly presenting progress reports to station management on viewer metrics and growth

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 2+ years in a television newsroom, preferably as a digital content producer
  • BS/BA in journalism or communications
  • A valid driver`s license and good driving record
