Clerk/Phlebotomist- Part Time, Days

Job Summary:
The clerk/phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining specimens from patients via venous, capillary or finger sticks. The phlebotomist verifies patient identification and explains sampling process to the patient. The clerk/phlebotomist verifies patient identification prior to collection. Additionally, the clerk/phlebotomist maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic techniques, and following department or special procedures. The clerk/phlebotomist is responsible for processing reference laboratory specimens, orders accurately, billing proper patient accounts, processing manual laboratory reports, performing assigned point of care testing and assisting in any additional duties within the department. The clerk/phlebotomist navigates the electronic medical records system to determine and enter physician orders and to complete a patient appointment. The clerk/phlebotomist answers the telephone and responds to inquiries by patient,
personnel and physician or others.
Requirements:
Two years of direct patient phlebotomy experience.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of hire.
