Job Title: IRAS Senior Consultant Team Lead

Job Level: M2

Role:

The Senior Consultant Team Lead will support the daily, monthly and quarterly reporting process for IRAS Total Portfolio Solutions clients. The role is highly consultative in nature and the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and a high level of technical knowledge of ex-ante risk analysis. The role requires competent client servicing skills as well as frequent presentation of the client risk reports, associated analytical framework, an element of cross sell of Northern Trust analytical tools where appropriate, and ability to work with senior stakeholders and product team in achieving the organizational goals.

Responsible for day to day management of an IRAS sub process(s), including conducting the performance management process. Implement & monitors goals/objectives established for the team and ensure the timely and accurate completion of all related tasks.

As part of capacity management, the manager ensures resources are available to accomplish priorities and provide the highest level of support to client servicing/clients. In this capacity the individual will lead relatively complex, extensive, high profile activities e.g. interaction with global client servicing teams, operations team, vendors, product/IT support and senior management and possess excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgement skills.

Major Duties:

  • Consults with clients and acts as the technical expert on risk management and analysis concepts and communicates how these concepts apply to institutional investment programs and support the oversight, performance evaluation, and asset allocation processes.
  • Provides institutional clients with complex analyses to facilitate the investment management and oversight processes.
  • Oversees the implementation of new clients for product.
  • Communicates with multiple constituents to ensure client satisfaction including clients, client's investment managers and team members on a regular basis.
  • Develops and makes client presentations explaining the bank's Investment Performance, Investment risk, Investment Compliance monitoring services, determines client reporting needs and discusses alternatives for meeting these needs.
  • Oversees the overall risk team, including data management, data quality and reporting needs.
  • Develops and produces investment reports and builds tailored solutions for complex clients
  • Uses low-code tools (such as Alteryx, Synapse) to build proof of concepts, solutions and exhibits strong excel skills.
  • Provides feedback to IRAS Product and Senior management around current offerings, client needs and enhancements required.
  • Works closely with Product and DevOps teams to enhance existing tools, testing enhancements and developing new solutions.
  • Researches and implements better ways to model non-publicly traded asset classes into the IRAS/TPS system.
  • Attends industry events to find solutions, best practices and stays up to date with latest regulatory requirements
  • Trains and mentors junior members of the team, conducts technical trainings, educates others on product capabilities.

People Management:

  • Conducting one to one meetings, midyear and yearly appraisals of all direct reports
  • Leadership and organizational skills to resolve day to day people issues & provide prompt feedback to staff with documentation
  • Celebrate Team success.
  • Error analysis to identify possible knowledge gaps and subsequent trainings for all direct reports
  • Ongoing maintenance of time keeping & updating work schedule, BR category, mandatory trainings and holiday schedule for direct reports
  • Identifies training and development needs, and assist the SM to establish performance standards for the team including performance objectives.
  • Skill Metrics & Talent management
  • Own & support any projects for your team

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong Analytical skills & highly numerate.
  • Previous experience in Portfolio Analytics , Portfolio Management preferred.
  • Significant knowledge of investments (public and private markets, derivatives), asset allocation analysis, attribution, and industry related subject matter such as mandates, laws, regulations, and economic conditions that impact investments.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines.
  • Flexible approach / Good team player.
  • Strong time management skills, consulting, problem definition and solution delivery experience.
  • Proven client relationship experience.
  • Good knowledge of financial markets, investment instruments and portfolio management.
  • Broad knowledge of performance methodology, including Equity and Fixed Income attribution.
  • Works well under pressure, self-motivated and pro-active problem solver
  • Ability to develop solutions and proof of concepts on low-code environments like Alteryx/Synapse.
  • Ability to understand and investigate data structures and tables, using tools like SQL.

Experience/Qualification:

  • 7-10 years of portfolio analytics experience
  • 2-3 years team management
  • Client serving experience preferred
  • CFA and/or CIPM certification, Masters in Finance, Statistics or Mathematics, education in Actuarial sciences would be preferable but not mandatory.

Eligibility for Internal partners

  • 3 years as a Team Leader to move as a Section Manager currently at an Officer level.
  • 24 months as a Consultant to move as a Senior Consultant. Movement within Senior Consultant and Section Manager is applicable if they have prior 36 months of people management experience.
