Job Title: Machinist

Pay Rate: $25

Job Description

As a Machinist, you will fabricate and machine both metallic and nonmetallic parts, fit and assemble machined parts into complete units, and apply your knowledge of machine shop theory, procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques. You will operate conventional, special purpose, and numerical control machines, as well as CNC machining centers.

Responsibilities

  • Check drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Adjust programs, speeds, and feeds to maintain correct machining processes.
  • Perform first-piece inspection to ensure part quality.
  • Work in the die room to sharpen die components to specifications.
  • Record inspection documentation for quality requirements.
  • Occasionally use a forklift to move materials or equipment.
  • Maintain safe work practices and housekeeping.
  • Complete special assignments and other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a machinist.
  • Ability to select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and CNC machines.
  • Capability to calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed and feeds, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
  • Skill in starting and observing machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
  • Proficiency in verifying conformance of finished workpieces to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to set up and operate machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed data.
  • Experience in installing machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment and testing operation of units.
  • Competence in operating welding equipment.

  • Ability to interpret engineered drawings.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency in using basic hand and power tools.
  • Physical capability to stand for long periods, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Organizational skills to maintain a clean and organized area.
  • Possession of personal machinist tools.
  • Progressive die experience is highly considered.

Work Environment

The work environment involves managing the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies. You will collaborate with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products. Responsibilities include tracking, tracing, and updating the status of incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining a clean, neat, and member-ready area, promptly unloading trucks and deliveries, sorting and stocking receivables, maintaining accurate logs, engaging positively with vendors and drivers, and providing backup support for shipping and receiving departments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
