POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Interactive Technology & Help Desk Services is a strategic leadership role responsible for the operational management and future-forward development of the district’s interactive technology infrastructure, help desk operations, AV event services, and device break/fix operations. This position provides visionary leadership to ensure responsive, user-centered technology support across all schools and administrative sites, while aligning daily service delivery with the district’s instructional and operational goals.

This role oversees a team of Field Analysts and Technicians support personnel, event technicians, and field staff, and plays a pivotal part in technology planning, asset lifecycle management, service quality, and stakeholder satisfaction. The Assistant Director ensures enterprise support models are scalable, efficient, and equitable, and that all users—from school leaders to instructional staff—receive timely and innovative support experiences.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • EDUCATION
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field is required.
    • A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • CERTIFICATION:
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft, or Cisco certifications) are a plus.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE:
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT support, help desk management, or interactive technology services.
    • At least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role overseeing technical support teams or technology service operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of AV systems (audio mixers, microphones, projection systems, streaming setups).
  • In-depth understanding of interactive display technologies (e.g., Promethean, SMART Boards, digital signage systems)
  • Familiarity with help desk operations, IT service management (ITSM), and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Incident IQ), Knowledge of lifecycle asset management, inventory control systems, and vendor contract oversight.
  • Understanding of procurement procedures, warranty service models, and equipment deployment.
  • Familiarity with how AV and interactive technologies support teaching and learning in classrooms
  • Awareness of digital equity, accessibility, and instructional technology trends in K-12.
  • Proficient in managing multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder needs simultaneously
  • Skilled in AV installations, rollouts of interactive display technologies, and district-level IT initiatives

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Lead all Field Technicians, Field Analysts and help desk operations, ensuring prompt, data-informed response to service requests, incidents, and escalations.
  • Supervise and develop support teams across school sites and central offices, fostering a culture of high-performance and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and track service-level agreements (SLAs), KPIs, and benchmarks to ensure service excellence and staff accountability.
  • Provide strategic oversight of knowledge base development, user training resources, and help desk documentation practices.
  • Oversee the deployment, configuration, and management of all interactive display technologies, including smart panels, digital signage, and network-connected instructional tools.
  • Serve as the districts subject matter expert (SME) for emerging classroom presentation technologies and advise leadership on upgrades and innovations.
  • Ensure proactive maintenance of district AV infrastructure and identify opportunities for future enhancements in collaboration, accessibility, and broadcast capacity.
  • Implement preventative maintenance schedules and lead root cause analysis of device failure patterns.
  • Track repair inventory, coordinate with vendors, and ensure warranty compliance and escalation pathways are executed effectively.
  • Guide procurement, deployment schedules, and project coordination aligned with district instructional and operational timelines
  • Understands FERPA, SOPPA, and other relevant privacy/security guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative
