About the Job

Google’s Core ML team aims to build the state-of-the-art AI platforms, services, and tools behind Google’s AI research and AI-powered products. We are owners of the Google AI framework (e.g., TensorFlow, JAX), AI performance and efficiency, AI training and inference platforms, AI compilers (e.g. XLA), AI software/hardware co-design (e.g. TPU), and AI developer experience (e.g., Model Hub, Eval Hub).

As a Principal Engineer on the AppCatalyst project within Core ML, you will be at the forefront of defining and building Google's future in AI-assisted software development. This role is instrumental in pioneering innovative "vibe-coding" tooling, a cornerstone of our GenAI strategy centered around intelligent Agents. You will address profoundly complex technical challenges, architecting and implementing systems that bridge the gap between natural language intent and functional code.

You will be responsible for driving the technical strategy in this ambiguous and rapidly evolving domain, making high-impact decisions that will shape how developers (both internal and external) build, debug, and deploy GenAI applications. Your work will involve designing for scalability, robustness, and extensibility, ensuring our vibe-coding tools are not just visionary but also practical and impactful. You will leverage your expertise in system design, programming languages, AI/ML, and human-computer interaction to deliver transformative experiences that significantly boost developer productivity and accelerate AI innovation across Google and beyond. You will lead by example, influence across organizational boundaries, and contribute to a key strategic initiative for the company.
