The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Kirtland Air Force Base is searching for an Aging Surveillance Program Engineer (NH-0801-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).
Description:
This general engineering position is an amazing opportunity to directly support Space Systems Commands launch vehicle missions, supporting a wide range of DoD customers, capabilities development, and deployment. The engineer is empowered to plan and carryout out assignments related to launch vehicle projects concerning specialty engineering, environment, specifications and standards, safety, manufacturing, productivity and mission assurance, which entail a variety of interesting interactions with multiple engineering specialties, and strategic lifecycle planning of items/systems.
The ideal candidate will have a professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution (MANDATORY). This position requires the engineer to plan and carryout out assignments for the Rocket Systems Launch Program (RSLP) concerning the safe to store and ready to fly condition of the programs solid rocket motor inventory. In addition, the position requires the engineer to accomplish a variety of complicated tasks, interaction with other engineering specializations, and consideration of the lifecycle of items/systems. Applies several diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to identify and resolve difficult issues, as well as ensure resolutions are consistent with program objectives, existing policies, and procedures.
Coordinates the various phases of work with other functional disciplines and interprets/translates engineering requirements into statements of work and contract actions. Formulates and supports recommendations or solutions to modify standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and techniques. Knowledgeable of processes and procedures related to program management and strategic planning activities needed to execute projects and/or studies within established financial and time constraints. Ability to encourage new ideas and innovations manage financial and information resources strategically and build coalitions to achieve common goals.
