Job Description

The Role: We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to analyze and interpret high-quality geo-data, providing precise and tailored advice to clients based on their specific project requirements. The candidate will be responsible for identifying and leveraging new business opportunities for Fugro and delivering Inspection and Monitoring services. Additionally, you will support regional Fugro managers in developing their local Inspection and Monitoring testing business and accelerating the growth of O-Cell testing.

JOB DUTIES:

  • You should be committed, proactive, and decisive, with a passion for delivering projects safely, on budget, and on time. Additionally, you will provide technical support as required throughout the service line, assist with resource allocation, contribute to estimating activities, proposals, and the preparation of method statements, and prepare factual and interpretative engineering reports in accordance with Fugro quality control procedures.
  • Performing foundation testing and reporting in one or more of the following areas: O-Cell Testing, Static Load Testing, Integrity Testing, Crosshole Sonic Testing, SoniCaliper Logging, Dynamic Load Testing, and Thermal Integrity Testing.
  • Liaise with project managers to ensure engineering requirements are met during fieldwork and confirm field tests are completed in accordance with project requirements.
  • Perform technical duties related to geotechnical engineering, working closely with the project team and technical authorities.
  • Perform site work, analyze acquired geotechnical data, and assist in the preparation of geotechnical reports and documents.
  • Prepare calculation packs for all technical work completed and arrange for review and approval by another technical authority.
  • Provide geotechnical services in accordance with standard international practices in order to meet client expectations and contractual requirements.
  • Study and understand projects requirements, organise and implement appropriate ground investigation techniques with project management, and prepare engineering reports in consultation with senior geotechnical engineers.
  • Assist in planning geotechnical field investigations and supervise field personnel either remotely or on site.
  • Liaise with project managers to ensure engineering requirements are met during field works and confirm field tests are completed in accordance with project requirements.
  • Prepare factual and interpretative engineering reports under the supervision of senior geotechnical engineers.
  • Assist commercial team in preparing scopes of work and client proposal documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering/ Geotechnical Engineering or a Science based degree preferable with experience in
  • geotechnical engineering works.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a construction environment, ideally including experience of foundation testing in one or
  • more of the following areas: static load testing (traditional and bi-directional), integrity testing, caliper logging, dynamic load
  • testing and thermal integrity testing
  • A thorough understanding of foundation engineering and piling methods is desirable
  • Able to read, comprehend and be able to follow construction site drawings and equipment manuals
  • Good site practices, workshop skills and a good understanding of quality control procedures
  • Proficiency with relevant computer applications
  • Excellent commercial and contractual skills
  • Medically fit and committed to undertake offshore and/or overseas assignments
  • Proficiency in both verbal and written technical English;
  • Strong report writing skills;
