Job Description:

Apex Systems is hiring a Windows Systems Engineer (active TS/SCI clearance required) for an onsite role at Fort Eustis, VA.

Job Description

As a systems engineer, you’ll be expected to design, configure, and troubleshoot of server, storage, and application architectures. Perform the administrative operation and maintenance of server hardware and software. Manages Microsoft Active Directory objects, Group Policy Objects, and DNS zones/records. Maintains system security and executes practices and procedures, monitors usage statistics and logs, and monitors and remedies vulnerabilities. Build and maintain baseline configurations and perform modification of configuration settings. Institute troubleshooting and incident response procedures. Troubleshoot system related problems. Provide team leadership and guidance to less experienced administrators. Able to understand the networking architecture at a deep level for server and application design and troubleshooting. Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications. Recommend future direction or projects to management. Provide expertise and direction in the development, modification, and documentation of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.

Education:

  • AA or 2+ Years of equivalent experience
  • DOD 8570 compliant (Network + / Security + certified)
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering
  • Experience with VMWare vCenter/vSphere 6.7 or higher
  • Experience with Omnissa Horizon VDI Desktops and Applications
  • Experience with NAS/SAN storage architectures and protocols
  • Experience with Microsoft Server 2019/2022
  • Understands Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
  • Understands networking at a high level
  • Able to work at a high technical level on all phases of systems engineering activities
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow through
  • Anticipates questions and is prepared with answers
  • Detail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work
  • Provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers and administrators with less experience

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with Dell Hyperconverged Infrastructures
  • Experience with NetApp AFF/FAS Storage
  • Experience with F5 Load Balancers
  • Experience with Azure Cloud services
  • Experience with Rubrik Backup solutions
  • Experience with Linux
  • MCITP or equivalent preferred
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certification
