Summary:

Supports the patient care team by performing multifunctional activities such as direct patient care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and administrative/clerical support.

Formal Education Required:

  • Must be enrolled as a full time student in a BSN nursing program and have completed the first semester of clinical rotations
  • Proven ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions and perform basic mathematical functions

Experience and Training Required:

  • Must complete Summa’s orientation
  • Current BLS-HCP card upon hire and maintained thereafter

  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, frequent pushing, pulling and lifting of patients, cleaning equipment, and materials
  • Ability to provide necessary care for patients (i.e. neonate/newborns, children, adolescents, young adults, middle-age adults, and geriatric adults) as required by position
  • Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
