The Department of Design and Construction, is looking for a Soil & Material Testing Technician IV to perform autonomous quality assurance testing and sampling for soil, aggregate, concrete and asphalt materials for use in City-wide projects in accordance with City, State and Federal procedures.

As a Soil & Material Testing Technician IV , your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Performing laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, concrete and asphalt in accordance with industry procedures such as, but not limited to, ASTM and AASHTO.
  • Performing and maintaining proficiency in testing samplebs for classification in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification (USC) system.
  • Performing and maintaining proficiency in testing for recognition of compliance with project plan and specifications.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States of a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Four year(s) of experience involving the testing and analysis of soils and materials for engineering and construction purposes.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required. The current vacancy requires a valid Type 3 (automobile) license, prior to appointment.
