Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

Join our team as a Mechanical Assembler where you will be responsible for assembling wind turbine power transmissions and their subassemblies. Your work will involve interpreting blueprints, parts lists, and assembly cards, as well as using various tools and equipment to ensure precise assembly.

Responsibilities

• Assemble wind turbine power transmissions and subassemblies using blueprints and assembly cards.
• Utilize parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, hand, and power tools.
• Shim and finalize the assembly of gear units.
• Work independently or with other assemblers and oversee lower-grade assemblers.
• Learn about gearboxes, pinions, torque arms, and ring gears.
• Safely operate an overhead crane to lift and maneuver gearboxes.
• Disassemble gearboxes using torque wrenches or impact guns.
• Interpret gear box documentation and follow step-by-step instructions.
• Record serial numbers during disassembly to avoid rework.
• Wash parts to remove protective wax coatings.
• Heat parts for sub-assembly and operate the overhead crane for final assembly.
• Attach customer-specific add-ons to gearboxes using an impact wrench.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 year experience working as an assembler.
• Experience with hand and power tools in mechanical assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Basic math skills for tool size explanations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction, carpentry, or auto-maintenance.

Work Environment

Work in a modern, clean facility that follows the 5s methodology. The workspace is well-lit, climate-controlled, and organized by department. The facility features ample space with no narrow aisles, enhancing workflow efficiency. Provided with a branded shirt, you are advised to wear durable pants. Safety is paramount, with a requirement for safety glasses and masks onsite. The second shift runs from 2 PM to 10 PM, with two 20-minute paid breaks included.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.90 - $20.90/hr.
