The Senior Systems Engineer will play a key role in building and maintaining modern IT infrastructure with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure and cloud-first technologies. This position requires deep expertise in Windows Server and Active Directory, hybrid cloud architectures, Azure IaaS/PaaS, infrastructure automation, identity and access management (IAM), and endpoint management. The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking, highly collaborative, and experienced in transitioning traditional systems to scalable, resilient, and secure cloud environments.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, deploy, and manage hybrid infrastructure solutions using Azure services such as Virtual Machines, Azure Files, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Drive automation of infrastructure tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep) and Azure-native tools (ARM templates, Azure Automation, Logic Apps).
  • Manage and monitor Windows Server, Linux, VMware, SAN storage, and backup systems both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Lead modernization initiatives, including cloud migration, serverless architecture, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
  • Implement and manage identity services including Entra ID, SSO/SAML integrations, MFA, conditional access, and PKI/certificate management.
  • Support enterprise-wide security, patch management, compliance, and vulnerability mitigation efforts using Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint, and other modern endpoint management tools.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning of critical systems.
  • Participate in after-hours support rotation and planned maintenance windows.
  • Provide mentorship and hands-on guidance to junior team members and stakeholders across infrastructure and application teams.
  • Maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and configuration baselines.
  • Engage with vendors and cloud service providers to evaluate new solutions and ensure SLA adherence.
  • Contribute to incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of operational workflows.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
  • Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, or SC-300 highly desirable
  • VMware, ITIL, or other relevant certifications are a plus
  • Strong technical ownership and accountability
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to simplify complex problems and drive outcomes
  • Security-first mindset, with experience in compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST)
  • Proactive attitude and passion for staying ahead of technology trends

Technical Knowledge:

  • Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, Storage, Networking, Identity)
  • Windows Server administration and hardening (2016, 2019, 2022)
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, Entra ID, Entra Connect
  • VMware ESXi and virtualization platforms; hyperconverged infrastructure (e.g., Nutanix)
  • Cloud-native backup/recovery solutions
  • SSO/SAML/MFA integration and IAM policy frameworks
  • PowerShell, Terraform/Bicep (preferred)

Modern Endpoint Management:

  • Intune, Autopilot, and Windows 365
  • Microsoft 365/Exchange Online administration
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM)

Process and Operational Competency:

  • ITIL-based change, incident, and problem management
  • Service delivery mindset with strong documentation habits
  • Experience working with vendors, managed service providers (MSPs), and cross-functional teams
