Job Title: Material Handler - Steel Industry

Location: Cambridge

Job Type: Full-Time / Day Shift

Pay rate - $24

Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Handling: Load, unload, and move steel materials using forklifts, cranes, and other heavy machinery.
  • Inventory Management: Track inventory levels, conduct regular stock counts, and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Quality Control: Inspect materials for quality and report any defects or damages to the relevant departments.
  • Order Fulfillment: Prepare and organize materials for production lines or customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate machinery, such as forklifts and cranes, to transport and position materials.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of materials moved, received, and distributed, including using inventory management systems.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Housekeeping: Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and free from hazards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the production, warehouse, and logistics teams to coordinate material needs and resolve any issues.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Material Handler or in a similar role, preferably in the steel or manufacturing industry.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in operating forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Basic computer skills for inventory management systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret production schedules and material lists.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Certifications: Forklift or crane operator certification is a plus.
