Job Description:

The Data Center Operations and Efficiency Manager will lead the optimization of operational efficiency and resilience across Flexential’s network of data centers, with a particular focus on electrical and mechanical systems. This role will be responsible for standardizing efficiency initiatives, tracking and reporting realized savings, and conducting in-depth technical post-mortem analyses of failures to drive continuous process improvement throughout the data center fleet.

As a key technical subject matter expert (SME), the manager will provide guidance on maintenance programs and Method of Procedure (MOP) development, ensuring Flexential’s data centers are equipped with the necessary resources and frameworks to implement operational changes effectively and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

Operational Efficiency Optimization:

• Lead and standardize processes for implementing efficiency improvements across all Data Center Operations (DCO) facilities.
• Monitor, track, and report on energy savings and operational efficiencies achieved through optimization initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for both immediate and long-term efficiency enhancements in power, cooling, and facility management.

Incident and Failure Analysis (Root Cause Analysis):

• Conduct detailed technical post-mortem analyses of any operational failures or incidents.
• Develop and disseminate comprehensive findings, corrective actions, and process improvements across the data center fleet.
• Proactively implement best practices and preventive measures to mitigate recurrence and strengthen system resilience.

Technical Leadership and Subject Matter Expertise:

• Serve as the key technical SME for maintenance programs, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of critical systems.
• Oversee the development, standardization, and quality assurance of Method of Procedures (MOPs), ensuring consistent and accurate execution across all facilities.
• Drive continuous improvement of operational standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and compliance requirements.

Project Management:

• Lead the intake, assessment, and execution of projects aimed at increasing operational efficiency and system resilience.
• Collaborate closely with regional operations teams to plan and implement technical solutions effectively.
• Quantify and report the impact of projects in terms of measurable efficiency gains, cost savings, or enhanced resiliency.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years in data center operations or other mission-critical fields.
• Proven experience in data center operations, focusing on operational and efficiency improvements.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data centers.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Expertise in operational improvement, efficiency, and optimization.
• Proficiency in incident and failure analysis.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to develop and implement technical standards and guidelines.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent proactive communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Operations Staff as well as interdepartmentally.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office program suite.
• Other training and experience may be substituted for the job requirements at the manager's discretion.
• Strong attention to detail, making and keeping commitments, and meeting deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
• Travel 25% of the time

Base Pay Range: Annualized salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $105,000 - $130,000. However, the actual pay range depends on each candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications.
