Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

The CNC Operator is responsible for the timely and accurate production of metallic machined parts per the specifications and requirements of the shop traveler. This role includes error-free processing of each order and completing the necessary paperwork and computer data entries associated with the CNC production process.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, clean, setup, load, and unload the CNC Router.
  • Effectively and efficiently carry out the production process, including receiving orders from the Production Planner, allocating and loading materials onto machines, and running jobs.
  • Inspect products, clean, label, and stage finished parts.
  • Offload scrap or stock and return any materials as needed.
  • Process jobs through the system and maintain an organized, clean work area.
  • Verify quality to ensure the product meets customer specifications.
  • Regularly clean and maintain equipment and machinery.
  • Program and troubleshoot CNC Router functions.
  • Practice a willingness to learn production and distribution methodology.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, quality standards, and procedures.
  • Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.
  • Cross-train other team members as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Two or more years of machine operating experience.
  • Intermediate or higher CNC operation experience.
  • Good reading and math skills.
  • Good organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Ability to measure using different tools.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
  • Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Coursework in metalworking, blueprint reading, drafting, and math.
  • Mastercam experience.
  • Six months minimum of 3 Axis CNC Mills and CNC Router experience.
  • Six months minimum of Fanuc Controls experience in operation of CNC Mills or Router Machines.

Work Environment

The work environment is a comfortable warehouse setting that is not climate-controlled. Heaters are provided in the winter, while in summer, doors are opened and large fans circulate the air. The dress code includes jeans, a t-shirt, and steel-toed shoes. The company operates on shifts, including a 2nd shift from 2pm-10:30pm and a 3rd shift from Sun-Thurs 10pm-6:30am, with Fridays designated as overtime days. Sunshine is a smaller company with around 35 employees. A 30-minute lunch break is provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $49920.00/yr.
