Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team, where you will utilize your expertise in manual machining to produce precision components according to specifications. You will be responsible for reviewing blueprints, calculating dimensions, selecting appropriate tools and materials, and operating various machining tools.

Responsibilities

• Review electronic or written blueprints or specifications for each job.
• Calculate cutting and boring locations on workpieces made from steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, silicon, or other materials.
• Determine feed rates and material removal amounts.
• Select tools and materials for the job, plan sequence of operations, and mark workpieces for cutting.
• Position workpieces on machine tools such as drill presses, lathes, and milling machines; set controls and make cuts.
• Monitor machine feed rate and speed, ensuring proper lubrication and cooling of workpieces.
• Detect problems through sound cues such as dull cutting tools or excessive vibration.
• Adjust cutting speeds to compensate for harmonic vibrations, enhancing cut accuracy.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in manual machining, including lathe and milling operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience with manual lathe and mill operations.
• Skill in detecting and solving machining issues through sound cues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with CNC machining is beneficial.
• Capability in setup and tool changes.

Pay: $35-40 an hour based on experience and leadership experience warrants a higher pay.

Work Environment

You will work in an outdoor machine shop, covered from the elements but not air-conditioned. The facility is equipped with large industrial fans to ensure comfort during operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
