CIP Project Supervisor (CIP Park Construction)

Position Summary

Supervise, plan and coordinate construction, irrigation and landscaping activities and operations of new and existing City facilities and parks in support of the assigned division and/or projects within the Parks and Recreation Department; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the assigned Construction/Project Supervisor.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in construction management technology or a related field; and

Four (4) years of construction experience; and

To include one (1) year supervisory or technical lead experience.

Experience in Landscape Architecture is preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Drivers License (CDL Class A) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Preferred Knowledge

  • Operational characteristics, services and activities of a capital improvement
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of construction, landscaping and irrigation
  • Principles of municipal budget preparation and control
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations

Preferred Skills & Abilities

  • Supervise, direct and coordinate the work of lower level staff
  • Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
  • Interpret and explain CIP project policies and procedures
  • Prepare clear and concise reports
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including a variety of City and other government officials, community groups, and the general public
