The U.S. Global Tax Manager will be an integral part of the finance organization and will collaborate closely with the business on a wide range of tax matters. Reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, this role ensures compliance with all applicable foreign tax laws and regulations, optimizes the company's global tax position, and supports international business initiatives. The Global Tax Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, external advisors, and tax authorities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance and Reporting:
    • Oversee the preparation and review of all tax filings, including income tax returns, transfer pricing documentation, and other required reports.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable foreign tax laws, treaties, and regulations.
    • Manage the company's global transfer pricing policies and ensure compliance with transfer pricing rules.
    • Coordinate with local tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns in foreign jurisdictions.
    • Monitor changes in international tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company.
  • Tax Planning and Strategy:
    • Develop and implement international tax planning strategies to optimize the company's global tax position and minimize tax liabilities.
    • Analyze the tax implications of international business activities, such as investments, mergers and acquisitions, and new market entry.
    • Provide tax advice and support to business units on international transactions and projects.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing tax structures and recommend improvements.
    • Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to reduce the company's effective tax rate.
  • Tax Accounting:
    • Calculate and record the company's international tax provision in accordance with US GAAP (IFRS accounting standards).
    • Prepare and review tax account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of tax-related balance sheet accounts.
    • Assist with the preparation of the company's consolidated income tax provision.
    • Monitor and analyze changes in accounting standards related to international taxes.
  • Tax Audits and Controversy:
    • Manage and coordinate tax audits by all domestic and foreign tax authorities.
    • Prepare responses to tax inquiries and information requests.
    • Negotiate with tax authorities to resolve tax disputes and controversies.
    • Assess and manage the company's exposure to international tax risks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with finance, legal, treasury, and business operations teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.
    • Provide tax support for global transactions and projects.
    • Communicate international tax matters to senior management.
  • Team Leadership and Management (TBD):
    • Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals.
    • Assign and prioritize tasks, and provide guidance and support to team members.
    • Evaluate team performance and identify training needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum of [7-10] years of experience in international tax, with a mix of public accounting and corporate tax experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US international tax laws and regulations (e.g., IFRS, Subpart F, GILTI, BEAT) and OECD guidelines.
  • Experience with foreign tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with tax treaty interpretation and application.
  • Proficiency in tax research databases and tax compliance software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Taxation preferred
  • Experience with high-tech, SaaS, or service international tax issues.
  • Experience with ASC 740 (or equivalent) accounting for income taxes.
  • Fluency in German or other foreign language(s).
