Summary

Our See & Spray Team is looking for a highly motivated Hardware Assembly Technician to deliver the promise of Precision Agriculture to the world’s farm fields. In this role, you will collaborate with our team in the development, testing, and optimization of hardware systems that power our agricultural and construction equipment. We tackle our objectives with multi-functional engineering teams of systems and embedded software, test and QA, mechatronics, computer vision and machine learning engineers. Our team is empowered to figure out how to overcome challenges, and plan and prioritize work – everyone is a key contributor.

  • Employment Type: Temporary contract (6-month contract)
  • Work Location: On-site in Santa Clara, CA.

Job Responsibilities

The primary job responsibilities include the following:

  • Design, build, test, and assemble hardware components and assemblies.
  • Follow technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions to put together hardware systems.
  • Perform tests to ensure the assembled hardware is functioning properly.
  • Prepare, package, and ship equipment in accordance with verbal and written procedures.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure that the hardware meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware assemblies to identify and resolve issues.
  • Utilize a variety of tools and equipment to perform fabrication, assembly, and testing tasks.
  • Track and document work processes.

Required Experience and Skills

  • BS degree or equivalent experience in mechatronics, mechanical/electrical technology, or related field.
  • 4 or more years of experience with electromechanical systems.
  • Experience safely operating machining equipment, including mills, lathes, saws, and lasers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
  • Strong written and verbal documentation to follow, interpret, and draft technical documentation.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience developing g-code for CNC equipment.
  • Familiarity with SSH for remote access and scripting on single board compute for rapid prototype/test applications (i.e., Raspberry Pi use cases).
  • Passionate about agriculture.

Blue River offers competitive compensation for temporary positions. This role is expected to pay $40–$50 per hour, depending on experience.
