Description

The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at Tampa General Hospital is responsible for leading the Comprehensive Emergency Management Program, ensuring the development, implementation, and maintenance of emergency operations plans, policies, and procedures. This includes coordinating drills, exercises, and training, as well as collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies to improve emergency response capabilities. The position involves overseeing the four phases of emergency management—mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery—and integrating these with critical healthcare functions such as communication, resources, safety, and patient care. The coordinator also manages the hospital’s response to mass casualty events and ensures compliance with regulatory standards, including those set by the Joint Commission, NFPA, CMS, and others.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's Degree Emergency Management or related field

Certification

  • Incident Command Center (ICS) 100,200,700, 800,300 and 400 from an approved education provider that follows the FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) Guidelines

Work Experience

  • One (1) year of similar experience
  • This position is required to be available for around the clock emergencies
