We are seeking a Senior Manager to join the Abdo HR & Payroll consulting team. If a combination of payroll, benefits, operations, and client service aligns with your top-notch attention to detail and process-driven mind, this role is for you.

As a Senior Manager, you will lead a team providing payroll processing and benefits consulting to Abdo clients. You will oversee various consulting projects helping clients with payroll, benefits, and software implementations, while also identifying opportunity for business development and new service opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

Payroll Client Service:

  • Manage, direct, and perform weekly payroll processing and reporting for select clients
  • Direct all payroll processes, including post-payroll submissions and reporting (child support, garnishments, benefit deferrals and employer contributions)
  • Develop processes to ensure accuracy of data in timekeeping and payroll databases

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and develop payroll team members
  • Collaborate with HR & Payroll Managers on service alignment, client satisfaction, and continuous improvement
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, acting as the thought leader for the team and clients

Operational Oversight:

  • Conduct Payroll Assessments to identify areas for software optimization, client risk management, and improvement; own the implementation of recommended best practices
  • Assist in payroll system implementations for smooth transition and optimal functionality
  • With team, develop effective pricing strategies for payroll services
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for HR/Compensation Services teams related to taxation of creative compensation strategies

Business Development:

  • Promote payroll/benefits services by participating/presenting in webinars, conferences, and prospect meetings
  • Identify and secure new HR, payroll, and benefit service opportunities
  • Serve as point of contact for external software sales teams for payroll (ADP Run, ADP WFN, Paylocity, Bamboo HR, etc.)

Strategic Planning:

  • Direct planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of payroll services, client delivery, and performance
  • Collaborate with other departments to align payroll services with overall business goals

Ideal Senior Manager candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management, or human resources
  • 8+ years experience working in payroll and benefit leadership/oversight, with 3+ years managing multiple clients or departments
  • Strong knowledge of a variety of payroll systems and technology solutions, specifically ADP Run, ADP Workforce Now, and Paylocity
  • Excellent leadership, organization and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and team accountability while meeting deadlines
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred
  • Experience leading multi-client payroll consulting and implementation projects preferred

Additional Information:

At Abdo, we are committed to providing fair, transparent, and competitive compensation that reflects the unique skills and experiences of each candidate. The estimated base pay range for this role is $100,000 - $135,000. Offers are typically made below the maximum to allow room for future compensation increases in the role. The compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications, skills, and business needs.

All employees have the opportunity to earn discretionary bonuses based on demonstration of extraordinary performance, special projects of significant importance, or other major accomplishments. Managers are also eligible for a manager bonus program which is awarded based on the consideration of individual contributions, team accomplishments, and firm growth.
