Job Description Summary:

The Kansas Birth Equity Network is seeking a Research Assistant to join their team. The Kansas Birth Equity Network is a community-centered initiative focused on improving maternal, paternal, and child health in the State of Kansas.

The research assistant would provide operational support to various initiatives and programs of the network.

This is a 30 hour a week, limited term position ending on 6/30/2026.

Job Description:

  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with community members, partners and partner organizations across the state of Kansas.
  • Provide operational support for various initiatives and events such as Black Maternal Health Week, Birth Equity Summit, Resource Depot, etc.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and manuscript writing.
  • Conduct outreach to promote and disseminate Kansas Birth Equity Network Scholarship.
  • Assist with KBEN stakeholder management and bi-monthly meetings. Reengage KBEN Board of Directors.
  • Assist with the Faculty of Distinction program implementation and monitoring medical students progress and status.
  • Assist with research and data analysis for the Voice Grant and future civic engagement activities.
  • Provide information on available resources, provide social support and informal counseling, advocate for individuals and community health needs, and provide resources as needed.
  • Collect data to help identify community health needs and community engagement satisfaction with members of the community.
  • Provide operational support for the Birth Equity Scholars Training Program. Including but not limited to monitoring the BEST application process, assisting with the coordination of the program.
  • Assist with creating a data management form to create consistency in our data collection.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in health-related field, human behavior or related field or experience can substitute for education. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Experience used to substitute education is in addition to any required work experience.

  • Work Experience: Previous experience working with the Kansas Birth Equity Network.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
