Your Opportunity:

The Nurse Practitioner reports to the Patient Care Manager for Orthopedic Surgery Centre and works in collaboration with physicians to manage care for patients in an Orthopedic setting, as well as promoting excellence in clinical practice for Orthopedic patients from admission to discharge. The position requires a comprehensive knowledge base and an excellent ability to apply it to the clinical setting. The primary responsibility of the role is to provide clinical council as a member of the interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the Orthopedic patient and their family. Working to full scope as a part of a collaborative team, the Nurse Practitioner is required to perform comprehensive assessments, diagnosis (including ordering, interpretating and ordering of diagnostic tests), interventions (including prescribing of medication), management, referral and evaluation of patient care. Utilizing principles of adult learning, the Nurse Practitioner will also function as a clinical resource for the staff and physicians providing care to this patient population. Additional duties include program development as well as evaluation, research and clinical teaching and clinical follow-up. Nurse Practitioners demonstrate and empower nursing leadership in their role by leading and participating in continuous quality improvement and risk management activities. The Nurse Practitioner promotes best practices and healthy safe patient care environments that are inclusive of cultures, beliefs, values, and diversity in accordance with AHS values.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current registration on the Nurse Practitioner registrar, of the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is required. Minimum of 5 years (Full Time) of related experience as a registered nurse in acute care. Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to self-direct the adaption and evaluation of the role. Participate in and maintain additional education and/or certifications specific to area of practice. BCLS-HCP certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Orthopedic experience. Working knowledge of EPIC Connect Care, Alberta NetCare and IMPAX viewer. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
