Leduc Community Hospital, located 20 km south of Edmonton, offers a range of acute and outpatient care, including a 24-hour Emergency Department. Our dedicated staff provide patient-centered care for individuals of all ages, addressing general medical concerns, acute trauma, and cardiac emergencies. As a Unit Clerk in the Emergency Department, you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing critical thinking, problem solving and time management and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in quality improvement, and providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Graduated from an approved MOA or Hospital Unit Clerk course. Medical Terminology. 2-years acute hospital experience. Demonstrated high functioning time management skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal and written means, in a professional and mature manner. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills – knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care. Preferred Qualifications:
Emergency Department experience preferred. Proficiency in applications such as Connect Care, Netcare, iECG, REPAC, iRequest, eFacilities, and Siren. Previous experience with staffing liaison responsibilities is an asset. Previous experience with Ambulatory Clinics, IV Therapy and Hand Hygiene audits also an asset.
