Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Power System Simulation Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining simulation models that accurately replicate Power system behavior. These models are critical for enabling firmware developers and testers to validate their code in a simulated environment before physical hardware becomes available.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, firmware developers, testers, and other simulation users to ensure the models meet performance and accuracy expectations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, an effective communicator, and a strong team player who thrives in an agile development environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and develop high-fidelity simulation models of Power system components and behavior.
  • Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to ensure simulation models align with real-world hardware functionality.
  • Maintain and enhance existing simulation models, ensuring they remain accurate and up-to-date with evolving hardware specifications.
  • Provide timely support to simulation users, addressing issues and incorporating feedback to improve model usability and performance.
  • Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous integration.
  • Document model design, usage guidelines, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Embrace IBM’s culture and growth behaviors, contributing to a positive and innovative team environment

Required education

Bachelor's Degree

Preferred education

Master's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience Simics/DML model development.
  • 2+ years of experience with C/C++
  • Strong debug and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with embedded programming or other low-level programming environments.
  • Knowledge of development tools such as git/gerrit, github, GDB, scripting languages (Python, perl), continuous integration (CI), and test processes.
  • Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-team and cross-geography.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Knowledge of assembly, especially POWER ISA
  • Agile development process experience
