JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Director, Creative Strategy is responsible for leading strategic planning for Universal Creative with the goal of ensuring we are at the forefront of guest wish fulfillment. Partner across UDX to translate business, industry, consumer, operational, and cultural insights into creative strategies that inspire and empower the Creative Studio to deliver the most compelling entertainment experiences imaginable.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Briefing: Leads collaboration with Operations, Finance and Consumer Insights to develop detailed, research-informed design criteria, creative briefs and budgets for all Rides, Interactive Experiences, Entertainment, Food and Beverage, Products and Merchandise, and Emerging Technology within newly developing immersive lands and location-based activations. Lead IP Evaluation for the Studio and remain at the forefront of IP strategy and prioritization.
  • Strategic Planning: Leads long-range planning for Universal Creative, using parks as a strategic pillar to develop greater brand growth, awareness and engagement across Universal Destinations. Leads Master Planning strategy in partnership with the Universal Creative Studio leadership and executive leadership for UO, USH, USJ, UBR and USS including new project planning, obsolescence planning and blue sky planning.
  • Innovation & Cultural Forecasting: Leads experiential and educational strategies that keep the Universal Creative at the forefront cultural and experiential trends.
  • Leadership: Leads best in class culture, which promotes innovation, collaboration and problem-solving. Inspires and motivates teams by leading with optimism and a solution-oriented approach, drives for results. Promotes an inclusive culture of innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Supervises an Exempt team

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science or Management disciplines including Theater, Design, Architecture, Industrial Engineering, Production, Project Management is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree strongly preferred - MS, MA, MBA.

EXPERIENCE

10+ years of proven leadership experience as a senior level strategist leading strategic planning in a dynamic, complex, ever changing, multi-disciplined, highly creative environment within in experience-based entertainment or entertainment franchise management for world-class theme parks, studios, or related industries; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
