JOB TITLE: Manager, Web Content
Summary: Supports the strategy, development and governance of content across UNC Health’s digital platforms, playing a key role in executing a multi-year enterprise website consolidation initiative. Manages a team of writers and editors to produce accessible, engaging and SEO-optimized content aligned with business goals, while helping to ensure operational efficiency and consistency in brand voice across web experiences.
Responsibilities
- Content Strategy & Governance – Supports the development and execution of content strategy and editorial governance for UNC Health’s enterprise web. Helps ensure content is purposeful, accessible and aligned with organizational objectives, SEO best practices and patient engagement goals. Oversees planning and execution for content creation, audits, migrations and maintenance across multiple digital properties. Partners closely with the MarTech team to ensure a seamless, collaborative approach to publishing and platform implementation.
- Team Leadership – Manages and mentors the web content team, including writers and editors, responsible for content creation and quality assurance. Ensures team alignment around editorial strategy, tone and workflow efficiency—serving as the point person for managing priorities, removing roadblocks and maintaining smooth day-to-day operations. While SEO and editorial coaching are supported by designated team members, this role requires working knowledge of both to support consistency and collaboration across the team.
- Digital Transformation Leadership – Serves as the content lead for UNC Health’s major platform migration from entity sites to a unified web system. Collaborates with MarTech and internal stakeholders to drive the multi-year effort that supports the system’s digital front door strategy. Participates in joint discovery sessions and planning discussions to ensure content needs are fully integrated with technical implementation.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement – Acts as the key liaison between the content team and internal clients and partners, helping prioritize requests, clarify objectives and deliver strategic, user-focused content solutions. Coordinates with analytics and consumer insights teams to inform content decisions and improve performance. Ensures close coordination with MarTech throughout project and content lifecycles.
- Performance Optimization & Innovation – Helps drive performance tracking and content optimization efforts to improve engagement, SEO, and conversions. Stays current on web content trends, technologies, and AI advancements to support ongoing improvements in team capabilities and content effectiveness.
- Editorial Quality & Brand Alignment – Helps drive performance tracking and content optimization efforts to improve engagement, SEO and conversions. Stays current on web content trends, technologies and AI advancements to support ongoing improvements in team capabilities and content effectiveness.
Preferences
Education: Bachelors degree in Communication, Journalism, English or Marketing.
Experience: Working within a healthcare setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong writing and editorial skills; Knowledge of content strategy and digital communications best practices; Ability to lead teams and manage complex projects; Skilled in cross-functional collaboration.

Professional Experience Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing or related field.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, knowledge of medical research concepts sufficient to enable communication with clinical and basic science faculty.
