Assist the Maintenance Manager with the management of site resident contractors. Supports NAFTA Contractor Management Officer (CMO) in the day-to day oversight and coordination of site Resident Contractors with heavy responsibilities associated with EHSQ along with manpower planning, scheduling and execution, and customer satisfaction at the Mobile Site. Plan, organize and administer workshop maintenance budget.

Assign, supervise, guide/direct and control the operation of the maintenance requirements to include work assignments, job schedules, work priorities, and plant improvements. Direct activities of workshop maintenance personnel and contracted maintenance activities to maintain the operation of all plant equipment and the overall facility, which includes mechanical, electrical, and external contractor aspects in accordance with all legal and other requirements such as the guiding principles of Responsible Care®.

Job Description Summary

Supervises contracted employees on an assigned shift to perform maintenance or service functions to specific time, quality, and cost standards. Maintenance activities range from mechanical, millwright, welding, piping, civil, electrical, instrumentation, etc. Includes a higher degree of troubleshooting and more complex maintenance such as machine installation/replacement or electrical work.

Interaction and auditing of contractor activities in collaboration with their management. Verifying invoicing and job execution of contracted work. Requires detailed and punctual management of purchase orders, invoicing, payment and accuracy verification for external contractors.

RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Lead routine and preventive maintenance operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficient use of resources across assigned areas.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for maintenance projects, overseeing construction progress, managing scope changes, and ensuring timely, budget-conscious completion.
  • Monitor plant and equipment conditions, identify safety risks and improvement opportunities, and conduct root cause analysis to resolve issues effectively.
  • Manage procurement and documentation, including sourcing materials, issuing requisitions, and maintaining accurate records for equipment and maintenance activities.
  • Supervise and develop maintenance teams, providing coaching, conducting performance evaluations, managing training needs, and enforcing HR policies as needed.
  • Oversee external contractors, ensuring quality work, cost control, and compliance through regular audits and performance monitoring.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimize technician productivity, remove operational roadblocks, and collaborate with planners and other departments.
  • Coordinate emergency maintenance and plant turnarounds, adjusting schedules and directing resources to ensure successful execution of urgent and large-scale projects.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 2–5 years of experience in maintenance supervision, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Broad technical knowledge across maintenance crafts (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation).
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar CMMS systems preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent maintenance needs.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance standards, and maintenance best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with scheduling tools is a plus.
