CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer II opening for our client in Buffalo, NY.

Location: Buffalo, NY

Duration: 12 months

Overview:

Join a dynamic team maintaining and enhancing the M&T Equipment Finance suite of applications. This position focuses on development, support, and continuous improvement of software and web applications using technologies including .NET, C#, SQL Server, and JavaScript. The role demands availability outside normal business hours for on-call support and production deployments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and support software applications and integrations
  • Lead resolution of user incidents and defects using ServiceNow
  • Participate in CI/CD pipeline design and implementation using GitLab, Ansible, and Artifactory
  • Conduct server patching and database management using Ansible and SQL
  • Lead Agile planning sessions, refine work stories, and update progress using JIRA
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior technicians and developers
  • Test software and validate compliance with Risk, Regulatory, and Cybersecurity standards
  • Present technical information to senior leadership and stakeholders

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a principal designer for application enhancements and problem resolution
  • Manage technical components of projects and oversee small to large development efforts
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure sound and effective solutions
  • Monitor application performance and maintain efficient operations
  • Promote standards, document solutions, and evaluate emerging technologies
  • Work independently or lead project teams as assigned
  • Represent the technology group in committees or special initiatives as needed

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to less experienced developers
  • Oversee project-based tasks and performance metrics for junior team members
  • May serve as a backup to technical team leads or managers

Education and Experience Required:

  • Associate’s degree and minimum 5 years of systems analysis/application development experience, or a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 5 years in systems analysis or application development
  • Proficiency in .NET, C#, JavaScript, SQL Server, Oracle, VB, SSIS, and API design
  • Experience with GitLab, ServiceNow, and Ansible
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Prior experience presenting to various audiences including senior leadership
  • Agile methodology proficiency and daily JIRA board usage
  • Availability to work off business hours and be on call nights and weekends

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Familiarity with M&T Bank’s application frameworks
  • Deep understanding of Linux Red Hat and Windows Server environments, including configuration, builds, and patching
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage complex projects in team or autonomous settings
  • Proactive and action-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions
