About the team and the role:

Join eBay's dynamic team dedicated to safeguarding our marketplace. We are looking for a Senior Data Science Analyst who will play a pivotal role in blending data engineering and data analytics expertise to build robust data solutions. Our team is committed to impactful projects that protect against prohibited, restricted, and counterfeit items, encouraging an outstanding and inclusive culture. This role will report directly to the team leader and will have a significant impact on eBay's success by driving data-driven enforcement strategies.

What you will accomplish:

  • Leverage advanced data analytics techniques to transform complex datasets into actionable insights that drive enforcement strategies.
  • Architect and implement scalable data pipelines and infrastructure utilizing cutting-edge technologies.
  • Design and present sophisticated data processing architectures that optimize storage and computational efficiency.
  • Develop and deploy analytical models that integrate machine learning algorithms to improve detection capabilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of user interactions to derive insights for tool optimization and enforcement strategies.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to identify data requirements and design efficient solutions that align with business objectives.

What you will bring:

  • Strong experience in analyzing and interpreting data to derive insights that advise business decisions.
  • Professional experience in software development or data engineering, particularly in designing and developing ETL pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and extensive knowledge of SQL for database management.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, HDFS, and DBT.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes, linters, and unit testing.
  • Experience in product analytics and conducting A/B tests is highly desirable.
  • Superb communication skills, with the ability to communicate sophisticated data and insights clearly.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities to develop others' data science, analytical, and engineering skills.
  • Proficiency in English, with a minimum level of B2.
