PURPOSE

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support and training to Federal Program and general education staff. In doing so coaches support not only the staff members, but students, parents, schools, and the district as a whole. Coaches will be knowledgeable in educating school staff regarding federal policies and guidelines as they apply to schoolwide and English Learner (EL) programs. In addition, coaches will provide guidance in district initiatives.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The support for Federal Program, general education staff, students and parents includes orientation for new staff, consultation and visitation at schools, assistance in understanding the application and analysis of data to facilitate systematic improvement based on instructional need (MTSS), implementation of effective strategies in conjunction with curriculum and common core state standards, co-teaching and co-planning with Title I, EL, and general education teachers in support of program development through professional development. Coaches also serve as representatives of Federal Programs and as student/parent advocates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • RtI focus schools support for Curriculum;
  • Collaborate and cooperate with Curriculum in intervention protocols and progress monitoring support in reading, written language, and math;
  • Train new Title staff;
  • Train and support under schoolwide principal’s direction - schoolwide protocols, Title budgeting, grouping strategies, and monitoring;
  • Assist teachers with the use of data to inform instruction;
  • Assist in compliance support of all Title I and Title II buildings;
  • Assist with districtwide trainings;
  • Create support materials for building training as directed by department administrator or building principal;
  • Co-Teach with Title, EL, or Gen Ed Teachers in schoolwide buildings as a part of Title staff development;
  • Support for extended day programs, including after school tutoring and summer school;
  • Support Title peer to peer staff development model;
  • Assist Teachers with screeners and progress monitoring as requested;
  • Projects and duties as assigned by the Federal Programs Administrator ;
  • Verify and clarify compliance for Title I;
  • Work with private schools to help coordinate equitable services;
  • Support staff in interpreting data;
  • Investigate student data upon request.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree;
  • Valid state teacher’s certificate;
  • A minimum of three years teaching experience is preferred;
  • Experience in a Title I or EL school or classroom;
  • Strong collaboration and coaching skills;
  • Effective communicator;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Must have a valid Idaho Driver’s license and a vehicle to drive and/or must provide own transportation for job related activities.

EVALUATION

Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Federal Programs Coordinator in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluations.
