About this Position

This position is associated with the OSU Department of Nutritional Sciences and Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service. It is funded using a combination of federal grant dollars. Office location will be in the College of Human Sciences, OSU Campus, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Responsibilities of the position include (but are not limited to):

  • Organize and schedule venue for educational programming of youth and families
  • Coordinate data collection of survey assessments
  • Coordinate and supervise the nutrition education exhibit and/or other projects; instructing and supervising volunteers in the set-up and break-down of the exhibit, training volunteers on script content and age-appropriate teaching styles, and ensuring the participants have a positive, educational experience. Maintain the integrity of the nutrition education curriculum and educational teaching props.
  • Assist with promoting programs, including communicating with agency administrators and educators. Represent OSU and the Community Nutrition Education Program. Responsible for making own travel arrangements; occasional nights and weekends are required.
  • Work with Extension Educators to provide and evaluate nutrition education.
  • Work independently and within project team.
  • Provide support for adult and youth curriculum.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Two years of related work experience. Experience conducting educational programs for children and youth. Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience.
  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Valid driver's license
  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge: Demonstrated ability to: Plan and facilitate group activities, events and meetings - Partner with individuals and groups from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds - Work independently and make decisions within the framework of established guidelines - Organize projects and set priorities to complete tasks within established timelines - Communicate effectively in both oral and written form - Organize and maintain project records -Passionate about providing nutrition education. -The ability to understand, interpret, and communicate relevant information to diverse audiences. - The ability to carry items to and from the vehicle up to 50# -The ability and desire to travel throughout Oklahoma. Overnight travel is required. -The ability to maintain cooperative working relationships and work effectively as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Nutrition, Health, Education, Agriculture or related degree
  • Previous work experience with the Cooperative Extension Service is highly desirable. Experience conducting educational programs for children and youth.
