Soil Lab Intermediate Technician

This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a Soil Lab Intermediate Technician for our Louisville, Kentucky office with both field and laboratory experience.

The ideal candidate should be familiar with testing of concrete, soils and asphalt in a field and lab capacity, as well as performing special inspections of construction elements such as structural steel and masonry. Qualified candidates should have experience testing construction materials in the field or laboratory, and be willing to work 40+ hours per week with nights and weekends.

Your Impact

  • Perform density testing of soils
  • Sample and test concrete in the field and lab
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
  • Provide daily reports of observation and test results
  • Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
  • Will travel within and around 2 hours of the city

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation
  • Ability to travel and work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work in variable outside conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Construction Management or related field are a plus, as well as Certifications with American Concrete Institute (ACI), NICET, AWS/CWI or similar organizations
  • Engineering background
