Role Description

We are looking for a Research Scientist with expertise in digital twin technologies, power electronics design, and advanced power systems.

The best fit will be a passionate and forward-thinking Power Electronics Design Researcher with a strong background in power electronics technologies.

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing the design and development of next-generation power electrical devices and system architectures that align with Siemens’ strategic goals in electrification, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

You will have the unique opportunity to work hands-on with Siemens’ proprietary power electronics design and simulation tools, gaining experience with cutting-edge platforms that are shaping the future of power electronics innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct advanced research in power electronic device design, modeling, and characterization.
  • Explore and innovate in power electronics design.
  • Design and develop digital twin applications for power electronics and power systems using Siemens EDA tools.
  • Integrate AI/ML techniques to enhance device modeling, performance prediction, and reliability analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition research outcomes into scalable technologies and commercial products.
  • Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at international conferences.
  • Evaluate and benchmark emerging power electronics technologies, contributing to Siemens’ intellectual property portfolio.
  • Support the technology transfer process from research to product development teams, ensuring smooth integration and scalability.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field with a focus on power electronics design.
  • Minimum of 2 years of research or development experience in power electronics design, including doctoral-level research.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in power electronics device physics and modeling, including doctoral research.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with simulation tools such as SPICE, and Siemens EDA platforms relevant to power electronics.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience applying AI/ML techniques to engineering problems, including model development, training, and validation.
  • Proficiency in English, with strong skills in technical communication, documentation, and collaboration in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in power electronics R&D.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience across the power electronics Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process, including design, simulation, prototyping, testing, and lifecycle support through reliability analysis and end-of-life (EOL) planning.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in power converter design and integration, with a strong understanding of mixed-signal system challenges in power applications.
  • Minimum of 4 years of collaborative experience with industrial R&D teams, contributing to joint innovation efforts.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Hands-on experience with reinforcement learning, including software design, algorithm development, and system-level modeling, particularly for power electronics applications.
  • A track record of peer-reviewed publications or granted patents in power electronics design or AI/ML applications in device engineering.

The pay range for this position is $90,510 – $155,160. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
