The Position: Information Technology (IT) Technician is responsible for overseeing the technical operations within King Arthur Baking, ensuring the smooth functioning of IT systems and infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting technical issues, implementing new technologies, and providing guidance to less experienced IT staff members. You will work closely with various departments to understand their technological needs and develop solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Reports to: IT Support Supervisor

Location: White River Junction, VT, onsite 2-4 days per week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides maintenance support and repairs on desktop computer systems and network servers; installs operating system upgrades; configures system software; monitors hardware and software performance; maintains a current backup of all system information; builds and assembles personal computers.
  • Provide support to assist in the maintenance of servers and networking equipment including routers, switches, printers, and storage systems as requested by the Network Administrator.
  • Configures, administers, and supports business and enterprise applications.
  • Configures and documents and distributes new equipment and software to users; maintains records, including a complete and updated inventory of all computer equipment, data communication equipment, and network software versions.
  • Assists in providing end user training for equipment and software within scope of network operations.
  • Maintains knowledge related to technical advances in desktop hardware and software equipment. Researches and evaluates various hardware and software technologies; assists with analysis and recommendation of hardware/software solutions.
  • Serve as a team lead by mentoring junior Technology Technicians, assisting in the development of work plans, procedures, and schedules, participating in the evaluation of staff.
  • Order supplies and equipment for projects; maintain records of purchase orders and may assist in developing budget figures for the division as required.
  • On-call: Participates in 24/7 on call rotation

Experience and Education

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in IT support or a related field. This experience should involve progressively increasing responsibilities and leadership roles.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred. Equivalent combination of professional certifications, technical training, and hands-on experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field will also be considered.
  • Experience leading IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, or deployments, is often necessary for this position.

  • Reaching/Bending – Occasionally required to reach, stoop, or bend to install, remove, or adjust IT equipment, particularly under desks or in server racks.
  • Mobility – Must be able to move throughout the building(s) to provide on-site support when needed; may require occasional travel to other company locations
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle for travel between local King Arthur buildings

Work environment

  • Indoors, a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, or temperature changes.
